Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef brisket or chuck roast cut into large chunks
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 10 crushed garlic cloves
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chilli flakes
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 6 baking potatoes cut into eights
  • Canola oil for deep-frying
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley for decorating

Let's do it!

Preheat oven to 375 f degree.

In a pan with a lid add 4 tablespoon olive oil over high heat, add the beef and brown it all sides.
When the meat is browned, add the crushed garlic, stir and sprinkle the spices in the hot pan.
pour in the boiling water, and stir, scraping up any brown bits.

Add salt and black pepper. Taste and adjust the seasoning.

Cover the pan and insert it to the heated oven.

Leave the beef in the oven for an hour and a half, make sure there is enough liquid, add boiling water if necessary.

Meanwhile, peel and cut the potatoes.
Heat oil for deep-frying and fry the potato wedges until golden.

Carefully take out the beef pan from the oven, arrange the deep-fried potato wedges over the cooked beef, cover and cook for another 30 minutes in the oven.

Sprinkle chopped parsley and serve.
